A Christmas Roller Coaster

What kind of roller coaster do you ride at Christmas time?
Too busy? Enjoying the planning? Got the gifts, but worried about when you’ll have time to wrap them? Love the decorating? Struggle with the decorating? Sad about being alone for Christmas? Can’t wait for all your family to arrive? Praying for no arguments over Christmas dinner?

I could go on and on, and maybe you didn’t relate to any of the above. What I do know is that this time of year can bring up many negative emotions! That in itself is important to me, as we have the CHOICE to celebrate God and Jesus choosing to have Jesus leave heaven to spend about three years living on this minuscule planet, so we could be clear about another choice, that of joining them in heaven by falling in love with them and following Jesus example, OR choosing selfishness, greed, power and control.

I personally struggle enjoying Christmas time when I focus on all the “doing” I think needs done. I’m grateful I have the choice to consciously remember that the Christmas season is a great time to pay extra attention to Jesus and how he would bless others!

Since what we focus on drives our emotions, look for what’s beautiful or at least good in your life, physically as well as relationally. Look for joy. Pray for joy! What are you truly grateful for?

I am praying you have a blessed Christmas because you are enjoying Jesus more and more every day! Let’s celebrate Jesus!
